I was assigned to make an animatic with the characters going by the names of Menacing Marsha, Grumpy Lt. Cragg, Elegant Edward, a shapeshifting cat, and a murder victim.
Character design was a crucial element to this project. I wanted the shape language of each character to be unique. I also wanted the characters to be simple enough to animate, but complex enough to be visually interesting and having their own personalities.
I also was dedicated to making the room make sense in every shot. I drafted the entire room and made sure that there wasn’t an extra wall or a vanishing doorway.
