This typeface started from doodling letters using the faces of an isometric grid. From these test-sketches, I developed a singular module, a slanted pixel, on which I would build the foundations for Skyline.
The objective of the assignment was to make a typeface and pair it with a type specimen of our choosing. The most difficult aspect of this project was making sure that the color of each letter was similar. I wanted the weight of Skyline to feel even despite its natural jagged edges. I also wanted focused on legibility, because there is a difficult balance between playful and unreadable.
For the type specimen, I chose to make a book using imagery of geometric architectural feats to highlight the 3-Dimensional quality of Skyline. I also chose to make a book with a large scale so that I could blow up the letters to highlight the architectural and large nature of the individual letters.
