Flo Transit is an app prototype designed in a group project to help tourists navigate the issue of purchasing and validating bus tickets abroad in Florence, Italy.
The project began with semester long research that included field study interviews, competitive analyses, card sorting, and surveys. Our research found that nearly every transportation app had poor reviews because of their difficult to navigate UI’s. My collaborators and I then focused on trying to make a useable app for people with little to no experience buying bus tickets in a foreign country.
The app prototypes were then designed individually. I chose to go with a desaturated blue color scheme to calm the user. I also went with a more minimalistic approach to the design of the app in further attempts to not overwhelm the user. I also tried to employ several confirmation screens throughout the process of purchasing a ticket, because that was one of the concerns listed by users of other apps in our research.
